Romatic Getaway

Relax and enjoy a fun getaway with your sweetheart. After a restful night at one of our hotels, enjoy a light bite for breakfast. Then head over to Hills & Dales Estate for a romantic stroll through the gardens and tour of the historic 35-acre Italian villa style home of textile magnate Fuller Earle Callaway and his family. Completed in 1916, the 13,000-square-foot home was designed to flow gracefully into its gardens — a series of dwarf boxwood parterres planted by Sarah Ferrell, which have adorned the terraces of the hill for more than 175 years and is considered one of the best preserved 19th century gardens in the country. The classic lines of the home, designed by renowned architects Neel Reid and Hal Hentz, have now silently watched over the beloved gardens for a century.

For lunch, enjoy a casual, but delectable meal at 505 Eats. Don’t let the convenience store location fool you – it’s where the locals go for delicious lunchtime standards and weekly specials.

After lunch, stroll through downtown LaGrange. With so many unique shops and boutiques, including Stephens Exclusives, Plum Southern and Marketplace at Lafayette Square, you’re sure to find the perfect gift for your sweetheart. If you’re interested in art, be sure to stop in the LaGrange Art Museum. Housed in a historic Victorian building, the museum includes changing exhibits featuring a wide range of artists.

For a romantic evening, start with hand-made cocktails or wine at C’sons. Then enjoy an upscale dining experience there, with a menu featuring classic dishes and new flavors inspired by the freshest ingredients. If you’re looking for some after-dinner fun, be sure to check the calendar for Sweetland Amphitheatre, an outdoor venue that plays host to star-studded performances and events.
