The much-anticipated Rockweave Music & Arts Festival is coming to LaGrange, Georgia on October 4 and 5, 2019!
Imagine an entire weekend spent enjoying more than twenty musicians, fully immersed in a musical and visual arts experience. Imagine your surroundings include endless options for incredible food, locally crafted beers, and unique arts and craft vendors. Sounds like a weekend that can’t be missed, right?
Excitement is building in downtown LaGrange as its diverse collection of local restaurants, breweries, and shops prepare for a deluge of art and music enthusiasts, or “Rockweavers,” as they are affectionately referred. Rockweave art is already appearing on downtown streets as the nearby festival grounds are being transformed to a multi-stage venue complete with beautiful art installations.
The art installations include one of the South’s most whimsical and colorful “yarn-bomb” projects, creating a unique and immersive visual arts experience for all. For those unfamiliar with the concept, yarn-bombing is a type of street art which uses colorful knitted designs (rather than paint or chalk).
The inclusion of yarn-art may seem an interesting choice for a music festival, but the quirky art makes perfect sense given the festival is named for one of LaGrange’s historic textile mills. The event’s artwork is captivating; vivid colors and textures bring the festival grounds to life.
Combining Georgia’s natural beauty with bright pops of color and fanciful designs will create a magical experience that you will remember for years to come. Many art installations and yarn-bombs will be used in future years… repeat attendees will love seeing familiar artwork combined with new additions each year.
An impressive lineup of artists is bringing big energy to Rockweave. Four stages of performances will keep you busy and grooving all weekend long. Headlining bands Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Grouplove, and Moon Taxi join other world-class musical acts including Greensky Bluegrass, Dawes, and many others. Several of these groups have performed at the country’s largest music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Austin City Limits.
Rockweave is designed to celebrate the weaving together of community; the eclectic music and arts are part of its thoughtful design. There is no better way to appreciate new genres or musical acts than to hear them live, experiencing the creation of art in real time with a community of people who are witnessing the same magic.
To further promote the importance of the arts and community, festival creators have chosen to donate a portion of all ticket sales to fund the music and arts education program in Troup County Schools, allowing Rockweavers a way to influence the future of local art and music!
The festival grounds are spread across three downtown areas: Sweetland Amphitheatre, a pristine outdoor venue, LaGrange’s new Southbend Park, and Overlook Plaza near Wild Leap Brew Co. For festival-goers who delight in quality food and beverage options, Rockweave will not disappoint.
The LaGrange area has an impressive food and drink scene, with many locally owned restaurants, craft breweries, and wineries. Festival vendors will provide foods for every taste and mood, and local beers will be provided by Wild Leap Brew Co., the official craft beer sponsor. Wild Leap has even brewed a delicious Pale Ale especially for Rockweave festival-goers! Rockweave Pale Ale (4.5% ABV | IBU 20) is a Citrus Pale Ale with tangerine, tangelo, and grapefruit that will be on draft during the festival. Wild Leap also brewed a limited edition, double dry-hopped IPA brewed to commemorate the event.
If you can pull yourself away from the festival stages, you’ll be in walking distance to explore downtown LaGrange’s many dining and shopping options, as well as Wild Leap’s tap room.
Rockweave is geared to become one of Georgia’s most treasured traditions. As the festival grows in coming years and Rockweave awareness widens, those who were present for this inaugural event will treasure their memories!
